Walkers Are Welcome

Wellington in the County of The Wrekin (formerly in Shropshire) was awarded Walkers are Welcome status in June, 2010.

Wellington Walking Festival

Our first festival was held on 6th to 7th October 2012
This is the page for that festival

Please see here for the current festival.

The 2012 festival has now been and gone, thanks to all our walk leaders, who all gave their time and expertise for no monetary reward, and thanks to all who supported the festival in any way.
We were very lucky to have such brilliant October weather.
We would like to add more photos of the festival to our Album page . Please send us any you are willing to share.

Festival Feedback Thanks to all who came and supported the festival, and special thanks to those who filled in the feedback forms. We had an amazing 82 feedback forms from a possible 200 or so. They have all been analysed and were overwhelmingly positive. A brief report is here.
One thing to emerge from the forms is that, while quite a few respondents had visited our webpage, very few had visited our Facebook page. When used as a tool to disseminate information quickly and get feedback it is very useful, please consider giving it a try.

Routes of some of the walks

Any news items and changes to anything to do with the festival will appear here.
The full programme is given below and is here .
A lower resolution A4 landscape version is here .
An A4 poster is here

All the walks are free, but booking is required for most of the walks.

Note that Wellington Literary Festival takes place throughout October 2012.
Weekend evening events include Friday October 5th Josceline Dimbleby in conversation. Tickets required. Full details are available from Wellington Town Council

October 5th- Fungus Foray not our event but links in nicely with the festival . Organised by Walkabout Wrekin and lead by John Hughes Of Shropshire Wildlife Trust. Arrive at 10.15 for a 10.30 start, the foray will last until 12.30. Meet at the Randlay Avenue Car Park on the edge of Telford Town Park. See here for further information .
This event has now taken place- one of our festival walkers went on the foray and said it was excellent.

Now that the festival weekend has finally come the weather forecast is excellent for Telford over the weekend.
We couldn't control the weather but other things were more in our control. If you took part in one of our walks you should have had a feedback form. In case you have lost it, or didn't get one, or don't like writing here is a copy. If could download the form, fill it in and email to info@wellingtonwalkersarewelcome.org.uk that would be great. Note it is the information we want, not pretty formatting, so please don't worry if the formatting goes awry.
